Checklist
Server buying checklist: what to verify before checkout
A concise checklist for comparing access, resources, location, support, billing, and policy terms.
Match the access level
Confirm whether the service supplies a standard remote user, Windows administrator access, Linux root access, or physical-server management. Do not assume administrator access from the presence of RDP connectivity.
Read every resource line
Compare CPU model or virtual cores, RAM, storage type and capacity, bandwidth allocation, port speed, operating-system options, and published location.
For dedicated hardware, also check remote management access and whether the service is managed or unmanaged.
Review commercial and usage terms
Read refund eligibility, acceptable use, billing frequency, upgrade availability, and support scope before payment. Ask for written clarification when a requirement is critical.
